these are all artists included one of my lectures/discussions in my ISSUES + IMAGES course exploring the issues, content, media and practices of contemporary art in the context of art history and contemporary society. The works I’m posting today are for the ‘flesh + blood’ discussion which is part of a larger unit that explores the human body as the subject, object and medium in contemporary art.
with essential questions like: What is art?, What has art been?, What is the role of the artist in contemporary society?, How has the role of the artist changed throughout history?— this course is different every time I teach it and is one of the most difficult and rewarding experiences I get to have as a teacher.
