Does a contemporary (fine) artist have an obligation to ‘speak’ to the public at large, the every man/woman, to the art world (essentially their peers), or only to themselves?
From the point of the view of an artist, is it more desireable to have many people owning/purchasing your work or to have one piece collected by a key individual or institution?
